Taunton-Harmony Corridor Study, Oshawa

Taunton-Harmony Corridor Concept
Taunton-Harmony Corridor Sketch

WND was retained by the City of Oshawa, Ontario to test the validity of alternative land uses and urban design options for the Taunton Harmony Corridor area in response to current development trends and evolving contextual changes. The study included the development of a comprehensive set of land use planning and design strategies and a realistic urban design demonstration plan with associated design guidelines to guide future growth of this important gateway area.

Public input was critical to this process. Working in consultation with the City, public workshops were utilized to obtain and refine the public's "vision" for future land uses and physical forms along the current reconstruction alignments of Taunton Road and Harmony Road. Urban design concepts were then prepared based on this vision addressing such elements as built form, streetscape, vehicular and pedestrian access, and gateway treatment.
